NordicTrack Elliptical Machines: Too Good to Be True? Many of us who are not so rich may also have need of an elliptical trainer at home for some much-needed muscle toning and general fitness. Sometimes, we are willing to shell out hard-earned money to purchase one. Considering our always-tight budget we are forced to check out the store’s lineup of cheaper models, and the NordicTrack Elliptical is famous for its cheaper models. Consumers who have purchased this brand of elliptical trainers have mixed reviews for it. Among the many features of the NordicTrack elliptical machines that are universally liked are its ease of use, child safety, and silent operation. They praise the fluid and smooth motion that it provides. Many also claim that it is a good value for money and that its performance is surprising given its lower-than-standard price. Other consumers, however, feel disappointed in the product -- to put it mildly. They feel there is nothing more annoying than having purchased something that they later feel cheated for. If you are looking for an elliptical trainer, don’t fall into the trap of buying something only because it is all you can afford. You might be better off just saving your money for a better brand and model, if you’d only care to be more patient. Though its price is lower than most brands, the NordicTrack machines are notorious mostly for their weak components: cheap, brittle plastic components that easily break down or come apart even with normal use. A bolt may turn loose; a pedal may tilt the wrong way and sometimes even fall off while you are confidently riding the trainer. And that noise that a lot of users have complained about! The gritty metal-to-metal cranky noise that the machine makes while in operation is simply intolerable! Where it is coming from, one may wonder. Getting the unit out of the box, carting its heavy bulk into the house, and assembling its all-loose parts are already a feat in themselves. It is not as easy as that grinning guy in the advertisement makes it seem to be. Also, one other complaint is that the NordicTrack’s after-sales customer support is simply not around when they are needed. There is so much delay involved in getting a satisfactory answer to a customer’s questions, and he or she ends up losing. Before you purchase a NordicTrack elliptical exercise machine based on its low price and raving reviews, make sure you do the research necessary and try it out first, or else you might end up disappointed. If that happens, at least you will know the difference between marketing presentation and reality. And you say to yourself that it is, at least, a lesson well-learnt. |
