New Balance Elliptical Trainer Machines: What They Have to Offer and for WhomThe New Balance elliptical trainer product line came from a company known for manufacturing sports apparel and other athletic supplies. The machines from New Balance are licensed through the infomercial firm, Fitness Quest, and are manufactured in the company’s factory in Taiwan. New Balance elliptical trainer exercisers are offered in two types; one with the flywheel in front and the other with rear flywheels. Three of the most popular products under this brand are the 8.0, the 9.0 and the 9.5 series. They are sold at Fogdog, Sports Authority and Dick’s Sporting Goods. Some Internet retailers also offer this particular elliptical brand. The first among the models released under the brand is the 8.0 series. The machine under this product line weighs 103 lbs. and features a 15-inch elliptical stride. It has a window console that shows the user’s speed, time, calories burned and pulse rate and a larger window that provides a graphical representation of the intensity of the workout. The model is priced at $856 and has a warranty of 10 years for the frame, two years for electronics and one year for parts. Next comes the 9.0 series. This model has a motorized brake resistance system just like the 8.0, but has a higher elliptical stride at 18 inches. The model weighs 176 lbs., giving it better stability than its predecessor. At the price of $1,349, this elliptical offers an eight-level resistance, 12 workout programs and a forward and reverse motion capability that allows users to exercise different muscles. The product carries the same warranty coverage as the 8.0 series. The highest level among the three models of ellipticals offered by New Balance is the 9.5 series. It is built on the same frame as the 9.0 and has a 16-level resistance. Like the other models, it also has a motorized brake and the same warranty coverage. The 9.5 differs from the other models mainly for its ergonomics and higher level of stability. It has 15 programs including a handgrip heart monitor that takes stock of the user’s heart rate while providing an upper body workout. Priced at $1,549, this model also has the ability to create and store workouts for up to four people. This feature allows users to design their own programs and is good for homes with multiple users. The New Balance elliptical trainer machines offer the same benefits that can be found in other brands, but the good reputation of its manufacturer (although earned in the clothing business) does provide an edge that could attract the attention of more than a few customers.
