The Horizon E52 Elliptical Trainer: Priced Just RightThe Horizon E52 elliptical trainer belongs to the regular series of machines offered by Horizon Fitness. Primarily, ellipticals from this company are divided into two categories, the regular series and the elite series. As with most regular ellipticals from the brand, this model belongs to the mid-market range of exercise equipment. All ellipticals in the Horizon regular series are built on the same frame and have the same mechanics; but as the number of a model gets higher, so do the features. A case in point is the Horizon E52 elliptical trainer. Its nearest relative, the E51, has almost the same features and functions. The higher level model, though, has a little more to offer in terms of technological features, programming and electronics. This elliptical from Horizon has four pre-set programs, an LCD blue black-lit console, amplified built-in speakers and a programmable magnetic resistance. Its main advantage over the E51 is that it has an increased resistance range of 1-20. The other model is only configured at 1-15. The E52 also has a longer brake warranty at seven years. In terms of other warranty coverage, it’s the same as with other models distributed under the regular series. The frame has a lifetime coverage while electronics, parts and labor are all good for one year. According to several reviewers, the product is not meant for heavy use. As with other Horizon models, it suffers from a reputation of weak components, low quality materials and questionable durability. But in terms of price, this model can be considered a good buy. It is worth $799 and most elliptical models priced within that range are not known for durability and quality anyway. Despite the less-than-enthusiastic reports, the product still sells relatively well. This can be attributed to the popularity of the Horizon brand; and of course, the reasonable price. The Horizon E52 elliptical trainer is not the best in the market, not even in its own price category, but it is not too bad. If a buyer would like to acquire a Horizon elliptical machine, then maybe he should go higher in the series ladder and choose a model with a higher number; or better yet, buy another brand. And if he can afford it, buy a more expensive brand and model. |
